Questions people ask before paying
What can I use for free?
Every editor is free, with no trial timer — and a free account gets Lumen Core, our balanced AI engine, plus a monthly AI allowance and LumenAgent with live web search. A paid plan is for going further: a much larger allowance, choosing your own engine, letting the agent work while you are away, transcription, AI images and video, connectors and LumenFlow.
Do my files leave my device?
No. Ordinary editing works on local files and never uploads them silently. Content leaves your device only when you use a cloud feature — AI, sharing, web publishing, a connector, or a support report — and only the part that feature needs.
How is AI usage measured?
LumenQube shows AI usage as a simple percentage of your month — there is no unit to learn and nothing to convert. Every account gets a free monthly allowance. Need more? Any monthly plan — Plus, Pro, Max, Family or Business — refills a much larger one automatically. All month-to-month; cancel anytime, no lock-in.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, anytime. Sign in, open your account, click Cancel. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then stops renewing. No emails, no hoops.
Do you have plans for families or teams?
Yes. Family covers up to 5 people (Family Max, 8) with one pooled allowance and one bill. Team and Business are billed per seat, also with one pooled allowance and central seat management. Everyone gets premium LumenQube AI, and you invite and manage members from your account. Enterprise is reviewed with sales and confirmed in an agreement.
Which platforms are supported?
macOS 11 or newer (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10 or newer (x64 and ARM64), and 64-bit Linux (AppImage or .deb).
Do I need an account?
You can use the local editors before signing in. An account is required for AI, subscriptions, sharing, collaboration, publishing and connectors.
Can I share and collaborate with others?
Yes. Share a PDF, spreadsheet, document, board or deck by email or private link, and choose view, comment or edit. Shared documents are encrypted in transit and at rest with server-managed keys — not end-to-end — and you can change roles or revoke access anytime.
What can the AI agent do?
Give it a goal in plain language and it plans the steps and carries them out across your files — reading your library, transforming data, and creating documents, sheets, slides, reports and interactive apps. You watch a live timeline of every step, and it asks before anything sensitive like renaming or reorganizing files.
Can I publish a document to the web?
Yes. Any editor can publish a view-only web link. Choose public or restricted access, optionally allow downloads, and revoke the link whenever you want. The document is decrypted server-side only to render the page; your keys never reach the browser.
Can it open files I already have?
Yes. Open PDFs, Word documents, Excel workbooks, PowerPoint decks, CSV/TSV data and images, edit them, and export back to the formats other people use. Native LumenQube formats keep the richest version.
Can I build forms and collect responses?
Yes. LumenForms builds forms, surveys and polls — every question type, plus photo and video statements and real file uploads. Publish to a secure browser link under the access policy you choose, keep an audience of contacts and groups, email it out, and resend to anyone who hasn't replied.
Can I make videos?
Yes. LumenDesign has a full Video mode: turn a board into short-form video with an AI director that cuts on the beat, adds kinetic captions, casts a voice-over and scores it. Add stock footage or AI-generated clips, then export MP4, WebM or GIF, publish straight to YouTube, or hand off to TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
