LumenQube is where the work gets made. Both are workspaces; they disagree about what a workspace is made of. Notion’s unit is the page. Ours is the file you have to send someone.

Where Notion is stronger

Listed first, and not grudgingly. If one of these is what you need, Notion is the better buy and this page has done its job.

Databases and views. Relational properties, filters, rollups, board and timeline views. This is Notion’s real invention and nothing in LumenQube matches it — LumenNotes data boards give a sheet ten views (table, board, calendar, timeline and more) with saved views, but there are no relational properties or rollups.
Team wikis at scale. Permissions, nesting and search designed for hundreds of people sharing one knowledge base. LumenQube is built around one person’s desk first.
Real-time multiplayer editing. Live cursors on the same block, everywhere. LumenQube has sharing, roles, comments and presence, but co-editing is merge-on-save, not character-by-character.
Ecosystem. A decade of templates, integrations and people who already know it. Switching costs are real and they are on Notion’s side.

Where LumenQube is different

Not “better at everything”. Different in four specific ways that matter if they describe your work.

Real file formats, in and out. Open the PDF a client sent, fix the spreadsheet, build the deck, export what other people expect. A Notion page has to become a file eventually, and that conversion is where the formatting goes.
It works with the network off. Ordinary editing happens on your machine. Notion is a cloud product with a cache; LumenQube is a desktop product that syncs.
An agent that operates the editors. Tell LumenAgent the outcome and it opens the spreadsheet, builds the model, writes the memo and makes the deck — in the same interface you use by hand, with every step visible and the whole run undoable in one click.
Your files stay on your disk. The default is local. When you ask for AI you can watch exactly what crosses, itemised. That is a different posture from a workspace whose entire premise is that the content lives in their cloud.

Which one should you actually use?

Choose Notion if…

your team’s knowledge base is the product — wikis, specs, roadmaps, relational databases
you need many people in the same document at the same second
you want a template for everything and a community that has already built it
browser-first access from any machine matters more than local files

Choose LumenQube if…

the deliverable is a file — a model, a deck, a signed PDF, a board pack
you want the AI output to be something you can open and keep editing
the work should keep working when the wifi does not
you would rather your documents did not live in someone else’s cloud by default

Plenty of people run both. Nothing here is exclusive — LumenQube reads and writes the file formats the rest of your stack already speaks.

Being straight about what we do not have. LumenQube has no database properties, no saved List/Table/Board views and no real-time co-editing. If your workflow depends on any of those, Notion is genuinely the better tool and we would rather you knew that now. What we are building is the layer underneath — one local place where your notes, files, tasks and decisions relate to each other — and it is not finished.

Questions people ask

Is LumenQube a Notion alternative?

For structured team knowledge, no — Notion’s databases have no equivalent here. For the case where you keep leaving Notion to actually make the spreadsheet, the deck or the PDF, yes. Most people who switch are not replacing the wiki; they are replacing the four apps around it.

Can I import my Notion pages?

You can export from Notion as Markdown or HTML and paste into LumenNotes, which keeps headings, lists, tables and code blocks. A database can come across as CSV into LumenSheets and sit in a note as a data board; relations and rollups do not survive the trip.

Does LumenQube have AI meeting notes like Notion?

It records into a page and transcribes, with word-level timings. When the recording is linked to a calendar event, the invitation and the recording resolve to one meeting, and decisions and action items are extracted with quotes checked against the transcript. Transcribing uploads that audio to LumenQube’s managed transcription service and needs a Plus plan; recording into a page is free, and the live transcript you see while recording comes from your own system’s speech engine.

No. LumenQube reads and writes the formats your stack already uses, so plenty of people keep the wiki in Notion and do the file work here.
